An abstract in four parts, each one 30-inch squares.
As a larger artwork, the impostion of the piece is hard to comprehend in the small format on phone or laptop.
The image presented is essentially a red square within a larger white square. However, the simplicity of shape is contrasted by an occasional burst of texture or the rude intrusion of a segment of textured moon breaking the line of the red square.
The colours of this piece tell a story of a red square being “invaded” by the background of “white” and clay. It can be viewed and ‘read’ however the viewer chooses. What does it say to you?
The piece comprises softened white, bright blood red and some transitional toning of taupe to red.
It tells of an essential clash between one thing and another. The thing can be anything.
This was painted in 2004.
It is in a company board-room in Tauranga, New Zealand.
This piece is SOLD.
